A Dream Come True: Staying at the Bolivian Salt Hotel

Two dream hotels I'm gonna try one day: The salt hotel and the ice hotel. Meanwhile, I just enjoy the pictures.

Uyuni has become a popular tourist destination -- a town primarily consisting of hotels, restaurants, internet, and tour companines.  The tour companies run 4 day tours into the Salar de Uyuni (Salt Lake) and the Reserva Nacional de Fauna Andina Eduardo Avaroa (National Park).

The Luna Salada Hotel:

Similar in theory to the Ice Hotel in Norway. The hotel is built completely of blocks of salt cut out of the lake; similar to how Eskimo’s cut snow to make their igloos, with a tin roof covered by straw. All the furniture (including beds) are also made of the salt blocks, with the toilets, lighting, and billiard table being the only things made of contemporary materials.

- Game Room - Meetings hall with capacity for 50 seated people - Event lounge for up to 100 people - Craft Center - Restaurant "Mirador Tunupa" overlooking Salar de Uyuni - Cafeteria. - Reading and recreation rooms - Belvedere terrace - Reception

Stay in one of the deluxe rooms made of salt. All rooms have private bath, desk, heating, hot water 24 hours, and large spaces. Rooms are available as single, double, triple, or family suites. All rooms include the Luna Salada breakfast served onsite.

Salar de Uyuni, located at 3658 meters over sea level, southwest of Bolivia is the largest and highest Salt Pan in the world, "El Salar de Uyuni". The salt crust covers an area of 10,582 km2 (4085 square miles) in length. Along the trip you can see various tourist attractions from the natural beauty of the place to populations with different traditions and customs.
