Chapon: The Mouthwatering Mousse au Chocolat
I never imagined that one day I’d have the chance to eat a chocolate mousse that's as good as the one I’ve just enjoyed. Not any chocolate mousse, but one I enjoyed slowly, a lick at a time, while moaning from enjoyment on the sidewalks of old Parisian streets.
Welcome to the world of Chapon, Patrick Chapon, the king of Chocolate Mousse.
Patrice Chapon used to work at Buckingham Palace, making ice creams and sorbets for the British royal family, before returning to Paris to open his shop. Since then he has won numerous awards and now sells a wide range of fine, single origin bars and filled chocolates.
After returning to France and having several professional experiences as an ice-cream maker, chef Chapon's desire to open a chocolate shop was growing. Chapon revisits standard recipes in order to conceive more classical and conventional chocolates: Pralines with spices, ganache with Chinese tea or basil, he’s making waves in French chocolate.
Among Chapon’s creations is his famous "Chocolate Mousse Bar" which allows customers to enjoy a cone of foam that’s a little different.
Other than the mousse, the shop sells a large selection of mouthwatering chocolate treats. Today we're trying the mousse from Madagascar, Equador, Venezuela, Equaga and white chocolate. Honestly, all are breathtaking. I've imagine enjoying something that's smooth and full of flavors but not that much. It's so pure, so majestic... everything’s awesome.
Wait, that's not all. On weekends Chapon produces the "Le Gâteau du Week-end". That's heaven guaranteed! A super dark chocolate cake covered with crunchy bits of cocoa, which offers a homogenous texture, smoothness, and an intense concentration of butter that all melts in the mouth, while preparing you for the salty aftertaste that hits at the end, putting a smile on your face and leaving a long lasting after note. That's really awesomeness in every bite.
