Chez Jean-Claude: Between Bistro and Fine Dining
One of the best around. Few French bistros compare to Chez Jean-Claude, it suits all types of get-togethers and offers some of the most delicious French food in the city.
I never understood why Chez Jean-Claude is not as known as many other places in Beirut. The prices are better, the food is tastier, and the recipes are more interesting and contain plenty of different ingredients that will make your taste buds work. Chez Jean-Claude is a small place in Achrafieh that only has 20 chairs. It is a cozy, calm, warm and pleasant French bistro that is good for a business meeting, romantic or friendly dinner.
I had the Filet de Boef with sauce au poivre: it is simply incredible. This was the first time I tasted a pepper sauce mixed with cherries. And the meat is just perfect. I ordered the Green Salad with Foie Gras as a starter, which was also very, very nice. All the ingredients mixed are so fresh and crunchy.
To end this nice experience, Jean-Claude proposes all the ice cream selection of Oslo and some fine deserts, one of which is the dark chocolate tart that I ordered. It is rare to enjoy a nice dark chocolate desert with no sugar.
Comparing to others with the same style, I can tell you that Chez Jean-Claude is one of the best by far and deserves a visit.
