Juice Generation: The Trending Acai Bowls

Non-smokers friendly

I might not be a fan of juices and healthy mixes but the latest "Acai" trend has caught my attention, and while in NYC I have visited "Juice Revolution" and "Pure Greens" every time I've had the chance. Inside this haven of vegetables - Juice Generation - you feel a certain kind of freshness, a certain lightness... especially when looking at the loaded fridge or hearing the blenders mixing the fruits.

Cartoonish pairings of fruits and vegetables, a mountain of bananas used as display, a menu printed on black boards, funky music... I like it here.

I love the Acai bowls! Cold like a milkshake, covered with bananas and fruits as well as a cocktail of nuts. I had the 'Aloho Acai' which contains bananas and almond milk with strawberries, pineapple, banana, bee pollen and vamp granola. The 'Protein Revolution' is made of bananas, hemp seeds, chia seeds, flax seeds, almond milk, hemp milk, protein plenty and topped with blueberries, bananas, hemp seeds and hemp granola.

And my story didn't end with one visit only. I tried four of their branches all around the capital enjoying one bowl at a time until I tried them all. Same quality, same freshness.

I have two concerns: the first is the waiting time which can go up to 15 minutes. The second is the unwelcoming and rude cashier at the financial district branch. I've watched her shout at a client coming in with his dog, and on seeing me take photos she acted in an unprofessional way in response.

My favorite is the Protein Acai. After the Protein Acai comes the Alpha. They are addictive, tasty and healthy with a crushed ice texture, an almond flavor coming through, crunchy nuts, ripe bananas, an enjoyable non-synthetic sweetness... it's just so good!
