Simply awesome. This place has really heightened my expectations for Japanese cuisine.

Zuma is one of the best, or maybe the best fusion, Japanese restaurant in Dubai. In my opinion:  Zuma is not a restaurant, Zuma is not a pub, Zuma is not a lounge, Zuma is not your normal Japanese place, Zuma is a dream, an experience that activates all your 5 senses with a magical touch.

The first impression is a very warm welcoming. Everyone welcomes you with a welcome to Zuma. The restaurant is so wide, warm, well decorated and relaxing.  The music is so pleasant, making you smile.  The wooden decoration, the ambiance and calm colors is just what you need to imagine yourself in Japan. Every day they have the Daikoku tasting menu:  an extensive selection of dishes chosen by their head chef.

At lunch, they propose the Ebisu menu for lunch, which includes an entree, salad and main course. Zuma is based on a sharing concept where all the food is served when ready.

The menu is divided into many sections:  New dishes, small dishes, salads, soups & rice, niku (meat), kushi (skewers), gyuniku (steak), sakana (seafood), yasai (vegetables), zuma dishes, tempura, maki rolls, nigiri sushi. For lunch, we had a selection of the best in the menu starting by the Chili Edamame that smell amazingly followed by a soup to reach the desert.

On the menu you can read: Zuma is a contemporary Japanese izakaya. Dishes are prepared in three desperate areas:  the principal kitchen, the sushi bar and the robata grill. Rather than offering individual starters and main courses, Zuma serves dishes that are designed for sharing and are brought to the table steadily and continuously throughout the meal.  Your waiter will be happy to explain and assist you in choosing a menu.

The lunch was:

  • Salmon and Tuna Tartare with Oscietra Caviar. Salmon, Prawn and Asparagus Maki Roll with tenkatsu and umeboshi.
  • Miso soup with tofu, Wakame and spring rolls. Crispy Fried Squid, which came with green chili and lime. Dynamite Spider Roll:  soft shell crab, chili mayonnaise, cucumber and wasabi tobiko sauce.
  • Zuma Chirashi Maki: mixed seafood selection.
  • Sashimi Moriawase, chef's selection: sea bass, salmon, yellow tail, tuna. Prime tuna and finely diced spring onions Miso marinated black cod wrapped in hoba lead: 24 hours marinated and caramelized.

Dessert:  Special chocolate with vanilla bean ice cream and exotic fruit platter with tropical sorbet.

Drinks:  Sparkling boss water. Norisun: passion fruit, mint leaves, orange juice, pineapple juice.

It was all simply amazing.
