Rod's Gemmayze: The Burger Place (Restaurant Closed)
Rod's is 'the' burger joint in Gemmayze. The little place I discovered a few years back has now moved to a bigger and more sophisticated shop down on the same street in Gemmayze. In a brightly lit space, Rod still works with his fiancée preparing burgers many crave.
The shop is full of red blended with stripes of light wood and is home to a couple of tables and a long bar facing the kitchen. Behind the bar Rod, in his black uniform, cooks the burgers. The bright light helps in taking beautiful pictures forInstagram. In the heart of Gemmayze, Rodolphe Hobeika has been producing these tasty burgers for more than two years now. He welcomes his guests on the sidewalk of the famous Gemayze street. Find a place to park and the rest is pure enjoyment. Helped by his fiancee, Rodolphe, with a smile and passion for what he does stands behind the yellow bar waiting for any request from his customers.
For the season, Rod's has created the salmon burger and the lobster burger while many of the loyal clientele still come for the meat with bacon. Today I tried the chicken and meat burgers that I hadn't had for a year.
Prepared on the grill the meat is a special blend Rod has long mastered and the chicken is one breast prepared on the grill. Cut in half the chicken fills the burger well.
Imagine a simple yet innovative burger prepared with love, passion and dedication; a burger that's tasty, fresh, generous and filled with premium ingredients; and a burger that has it all yet keeps you feeling light, even after devouring two of them.
It's a good burger:
- It takes time on the grill, but it's worth the wait. A fluffy bun, lightly warmed on the grill, a burger filled with fried jalapeños, mozzarella, a slice of cheddar cheese, mayo and ketchup with fried onions and fresh mushrooms. A load of ingredients well married together, creating a street food burger that's enjoyable to the last bite. That burger is called "3a Zaw2ak".
- Another "3a Zaw2ak" is Rod's chicken burger. A little bit dry, the chicken could have been cooked less, but the blend of flavors and sauces covers that. Chicken with sweet and sour sauce, honey mustard, cheese and ham with avocado. That's a good job.
What is "3a Zaw2ak"? It's when Rod's creates a special version for the customer and it usually works.
I love this!
