Anthony’s latest adventure starts in the heart of Veneto, Italy, where the magic of the Prosecco region unfolds from the very first moment.
Welcome to Conegliano, the First Taste of Prosecco Country
Anthony’s Prosecco adventure begins in Conegliano, a quiet town in the Veneto region and one of the historic gateways to the world of Prosecco. With its hillside castle ruins, charming center, and gentle landscapes, Conegliano immediately sets a relaxed mood. Anthony arrives ready for a trip designed not as a typical tourist stop, but as a deep dive into wine culture, local food, and the stories behind Italy’s most celebrated sparkling wine.
Bottega: Four Centuries of Wine Heritage
Day 1 sets the tone with an introduction to Bottega, the iconic Italian producer known for its Prosecco, grappa, and liqueurs. With roots dating back to the 17th century, Bottega has evolved into a brand recognized in more than 160 countries. Its star, Bottega Gold Prosecco DOC, comes from Glera grapes grown on the hills between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene — the same hills Anthony begins exploring.
This entire journey was coordinated in partnership with EBA (Ets. Bahige Abdelnour), Bottega’s longtime distributor in Lebanon and the group officially welcomed on-site according to the itinerary provided by Bottega (26–30 November, “Welcome to Bottega – EBA delegation” including Anthony, Georges Hayek, Joy and Ronn Tassidis, and Marc Bou Assi). The visit reflects the strong relationship between Bottega and EBA, the team behind bringing these Italian bottles to Lebanon’s restaurants and bars.
Experiencing the UNESCO Prosecco Hills
With every stop, the Prosecco region reveals why it’s listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From the train stations leading into the valley to the sweeping panoramas of Conegliano–Valdobbiadene, these hills feel untouched, calm, and incredibly rich in tradition.
Highlights of the day include:
- The first look at the “Prosecco country,” with rolling vineyards shaping the entire landscape.
- Understanding how climate, altitude, and vegetation create the unique aromas of the Glera grape.
- Seeing the DOCG zones that produce some of Italy’s highest-quality sparkling wines.
- Feeling how nature and winemaking have lived side by side here for centuries.
A Taste of Italy: Dinner, Flavors & First Impressions
As the day winds down, food takes over. Dinner in Conegliano becomes Anthony’s first true taste of Veneto’s culinary soul — simple, honest, flavorful dishes that reflect the land. Fresh pasta, local cheeses, regional ingredients, and the warmth of Italian cooking all come together in a way that immediately feels like home.
The atmosphere is lively, friendly, and full of curiosity — exactly the kind of energy that fuels NGNO’s travels.
A Promising Start to an Italian Adventure
Day 1 wraps up with a sense of excitement. The landscapes, the food, the wine, the heritage, and the people all create a beautiful first chapter of this Prosecco tour. With the upcoming schedule prepared by Bottega and EBA — including vineyard visits, factory tours, tastings, and dinners — the days ahead promise even more stories from the heart of Veneto.
